AMSE 'Lights Up' Croke Park

The new lighting system at Croke Park was officially launched at a ceremony earlier this month, ahead of the Allianz Football League meeting of Dublin and Tyrone.

GAA President Nickey Brennan flicked the switch in front of a sell-out crowd at the association's headquarters, the first time in the 123-year history of the venue that a game was played under lights.

The AMSE team began installing the lights at the end of last year and were working to a tight time schedule

“When planning permission was received it took only 6 weeks for the fabrication, building and installation of the lights. Once we had installed them and the project appeared finished, there began a lengthy time process involving other specialists, apart from our own, in carefully aiming the lights. This was to allow for the pitch to be illuminated differently for various usages - Rugby, Soccer and of course, GAA” explained Managing Director, Andrew Mannion.

“It was a delight to be back working in Croke Park again, and to play such a pivotal role in this part of the stadium’s development. We were here in 2001 erecting the new canopy roof on the Hogan Stand, which was our most notable project that year. With the stadium set to be the focal point for the three big sports this year, we are immensely proud to be involved again, this time with a floodlighting project that appears to have captured everybody’s imagination.”
